The Story of the We Vibe
With the burst of the Dot.com bubble back in 2003 there were layoffs made as Nortel, which paved the way for the most recent innovation of the sex toy world, that of the We Vibe!
Based in Ottawa.Canada Standard Innovation Corp's first product, the We-Vibe vibrator, has sold 55,000 units worldwide since it was released last spring 2008. That is an absolutely phenomenal success and the reason for so many sales is clear once the product is tried and tested.
Husband and wife team Bruce and Melody Murison were both former Nortel employees came up with idea of the We Vibe (a couples vibrator) back in 2001 when a Road trip back from a holiday and both still working at Nortel.
It wasn't until the changes to their professional life came with the job loss of Bruce that they really began to pursue their idea with vigor.
"It was just an innocent idea why isn't there a sex toy that fits between two people when they're making love?" Bruce said.
Having found there was no product patented which did just this they then set about the creation of the We Vibe.
Being an engineer by trade, Bruce designed the We-Vibe very much from an engineer's mind set. The silicone device is U-shaped, flexible, rechargeable, compact, and is the result of six years and $500,000 USD of design and development. Bruce says that to him the We Vibe is an electromechanical device and not a toy, and that in designing it he took a scientific point of view of power and performance.

In 2003, he was laid off from Nortel and had some time to pursue his new research, and from there the We-Vibe was born.
